I decided to have some fun Sun afternoon by trying to add an extra drive
to my desktop PC (Win2k pro).... that went no where so I decided to just
call it a day and go back to my original configuration...
Now the machine won't see the (original) hard drive at all.
I thought I'd make it a learning experience by booting up live version
of Ubuntu to see what I could see.... nadda....
Going with the specs on the drive and setting them manually in BIOS,
still no go.
One really odd thing is that I am virtually certain that all this time
I've had a 9gig drive in there, yet the markings on the drive are for a
15+ gig drive. I got this thing a few years ago from the guys over at
ComputerBase on the cheap....
I vaguely remember that when I started on this ordeal that I did see in
the BIOS for the drive that it was 15 something gigs.... I just didn't
pay very close attention....
Using specs on the drive the BIOS calcs a size around 9 gig, yet the
thing specifically says it's something 15+ gigs.... odd stuff....
Obviously the problem isn't Windows or Ubuntu - it's just the BIOS isn't
seeing the hard drive.... I'm a bit nervous about playing around with
those BIOS settings too much out of fear of loosing data off the drive...
Any suggestions or thoughts on how I should proceed?
