So you think it's a good thing for Microsoft to be allowed, under the GPL,
to make Linux on any Dell machine illegal, by coercing Dell into using a
TPM chip in their machines? Do you think this is a brilliant strategy to
make the world more free and less dependent on proprietary software?

I am telling you, in the real world where real human beings live this
cannot be further from the truth! If a person has a Dell and was
considering Linux, then discovers it is illegal to use Linux on such a
system, they're likely to just reinstall Windows as they usually do. Dell
won't be going out of business because Linux isn't legal on their hardware
any more than Microsoft will because it's illegal to put Linux on the XBox
(any generation). Yes it will still be possible to put Linux on the
hardware, but the barrier to entry will be raised just enough that nobody
will.

How does this benefit the community or the ideals of free software? I
know Richard can't answer that question (I've asked it of him before. At
this point in the conversation is when he starts shouting things like his
famous line to Ean, "Shut up, Shut Up, SHUT UP!")
