I agree, but Fiber? I seem to recall something in history of this town, city or what shall we callit, mega hut? I thought there was a fiber optic session done, but I don't think its workable or not, I won't even deal with fiber optics, too many politics from big corporate wigs wasting money on what they think will work, when the end user know's better than their own neckloops.

And yes, from a worldwide POV, we suck on broadband pricing.
It's not just Comcast though. Cox, Roadrunner, Qwest, Clearwire,
all are guilty are charging too much. Conspiracy theory, AOL is
paying them to keep costs high so they don't lost more than half
their userbase. Anybody know if we have Fiber in Eugene?
Verizon's FTTP would rock and supposedly costs as much or less
than others and has greater throughput.

Don't I recall voting on an EWEB charter amendment permitting EWEB to
lay down a fiber backbone?
Haven't a few streets been torn up over the last few years for utility
maintenence?
EWEB laid the fiber down, now to get them to provide service from the curb.
