I complee agreetly.  In the interest of being offensive, I'd like to ask our readship WTF the world would do without a daily "emerge world"??  Use your fancy new octocore CPU and terahurtz front-side bus to render fractals or calculate protein folding?
Speaking of which, Team 668 is not such a hot bunch as it once was...

Bah, just use what works.  If you're a prosumer tinkerer or a kernel hacker then yeah, you've got "special" needs, but this is a linux user group -- so let's keep talking about methods and angles on the use of linux.  Well, it becomes circular of course if you ever compile a kernel :)

Well garsh, I've been off-list for so long, it's nice to be back folks.  I hope you all enjoy my heckling... if not I think you can make a filter to ignore me ;)

At the risk of being offensive, I'd say there just isn't much reason to
go with Gentoo over another Debian based OS such as Ubuntu.  You can
still recompile or update whatever you want, but you don't have to deal
with the wait/hassle of building the whole system from scratch.  There
are much more exciting things going on in other places as well.
