Aye, With hardware raid you will either have a BIOS type of utility or a bootable CD or floppy to set up your RAID first. You will need to creat the array and stripe the set before the OS will see it.. however once set up the RAID is pretty much invisible to the OS ( with the exception of the needed driver ) so you dont do a separate RIAD setup in software.

megaraid driver ? I've had problems with the older HP mylex, older Perc 1's, LSI and similar RAID controllers with linux.. the ones that use the old I20 ( or something like that ) chipset.
