Consider getting a hardware modem. US Robotics has a nice USB modem that works 
with Linux but it isn't cheap. Somewhere in the $60 to $70 if I recall. 
Otherwise, pick up an external USR from someplace like NextStep or if you're 
outside Eugene then any Goodwill/St Vinnies. There are still internal hardware 
modems as well. Expect between $35 and $50 on those.

As for calling you... the LUG doesn't typically operate on calling people. It 
is a collaboration by many people and all "support" (I use that term loosely as 
it is not a requirement for anyone to do anything as we are not being paid for 
it) is done through the mailing list and local meetings.
