DOCSIS 3 is all about channel bonding and not really anything about fiber. I
think Comcast does have fiber to a number of their nodes and are working to
increase that but not sure we'd actually see FTT(P/H) from them.

This info was ripped from Wikipedia:
Channles: D:4 U:4 Down: 171.52 (152) Mbit/s UP: 122.88 (108) Mbit/s
Down:8 Up:4 Down:343.04 (304) Mbit/s UP: 122.88 (108) Mbit/s

The bandwidth is there and or getting there for many. The only downside being
the nodes are still shared.

Anytime old equipment goes out Comcast rolls in the new equipment. I've joked
quite often about 'accidentally' driving into the local node so it can be
upgraded.

That be all,
Mr O.

P.S. Yes, our broadband prices suck. As with any "new" technology we can
probably expect prices to decrease as speeds increase over time. And if you
live on the fringes, you're probably not there for the broadband!
