I found this project it looks like it is maintained a little more.

It looks like the only requirements are 802.1q VLAN and 802.1ab
channel bonding.
I know 802.1q is in the latest 2.4.37.9 kernel.

looks to be another demon if lldpd will not work on 2.4.
