I love downtown. I'm applying for a position as a security guard at the library. I've been going downtown my entire life, I worked downtown for nine months (the night shift, mind you) and I've never used that term. My best friend would have been beaten over the head with a skateboard if a cop hadn't been right behind the aggressor and you will never hear me use that term. You were the one using the reactionary term to paint everyone who hangs out at the library with a brush better reserved for a few criminals. The overwhelming majority of the "hooligans" you are talking about are homeless youth who endure their fair share of harassment from the "good people" and from police who will ticket them $75 for sitting on a curb or standing on the sidewalk too long.
