Answer ID 753851 - What distributions can WordPerfect® for

What Linux distributions can WordPerfect for Linux run under ?
WordPerfect® for Linux® will run under most distributions capable of
running X11R6 ( Xfree86 ).
The products recommended requirements are as follows:
* Intel® Pentium Processor II 400 Megahertz. ( or equivalent ).
* 64 Megabytes of ram or greater. . 100 Megabytes worth of free disk
space.
* Linux kernel 2.0.x, 2.2.x or 2.4.x.
* Xfree86 v3.3.5 or greater.
Minimum requirements:
* Intel 486 DX33 ( or equivalent ).
* 16 Megabytes of ram or greater.
* 100 Megabytes worth of free disk space.
* Linux kernel 2.0.x, 2.2.x or 2.4.x.
* Xfree86 v3.3.5 or greater.
NOTE: Please ensure that your system meets the minimum system
requirements for your Linux distribution.
WordPerfect for Linux has been tested and is known to work with the
following:
* Xandros® v1.0
* SuSE® v8.2
* Redhat® v9.x
* Mandrake® v9.x
* Slakware® v9.x
The product should work under different distributions or different
versions however desktop icons and menu icons may not install or appear
correctly.
Notes:
*
Language Distributions: English (US, UK, CDN, AUS) and French
(CDN, FR).
*
Libraries: WP Linux ships with its own compatibility libraries and
installs them as /usr/i386-compat-gnulibc1/lib. It installs a
script named xwp in /usr/bin that points to /wpbin/wplauncher,
which sets a library path to the required libraries.
*
Printer Drivers: WP Linux does not ship with new printer drivers.
The printer configuration is set up by default for Passthru
Postscript and prints to WPSpool. To print WP8 with a specified
printer driver, select raw. Either create a raw printer with CUPS
or add -oraw in the LPR Options box in the Select Destinations dialog.
*
WP Linux ships with 130 fonts. A Readme in ~/wplinux/wpbin details
font installation.
However, the last dated entry I can find is Date Updated: 12/23/2009 and
I believe Corel dropped Linux support. I could be wrong. Best to check
with RedHat or IBM as they sell enterprise packages which include word
processing solutions, etc. I think SuSE had the WP8 downloadable if
memory serves me and here's something I Googled:

Better yet, try OpenOffice. It is completely stable, runs on Linux,
FreeBSD, Max OS X, and it even runs on the Wondoze XP clones at LCC (if
you sneak in with it on PortableApps on your flash device). It is free
and nearly 99.1%
MS Office compatible. Check it out: http://www.openoffice.org/
