The escort is aaalllllmossstttt done. All essential hardware is installed, and everything is set up. I should be able to drive it into the garage to do all the remaining thousand-and-one things left to make it road ready. I really want this on-line again by 9-11 (and Steve, I have a bare hood, just perfect for a new hood ornament. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.).
The final obstacle is the precharge circuit, so I guess this is mainly addressed to Lee, since I basically copied his. I've wired it as you stated, Lee, and it precharges fine, but the second contactor does not pull in as it should. I've checked just about everything, and it all seems to be working fine. What else should I check? Connections: coil to B+ and B-, NO to 12V + and ground, through the contactor coil. Total resistance through the coil with the resistors in series measures approximately 15k ohms. 120V AC relay, 114V battery pack. I could always rig a manual switch and activate it when the precharge was done, but I like the "automatic" operation of Lee's circuit. On a side note, the isolation is perfect (that's already an improvement!). Space is at a premium, though. I've had to relieve the hood underside for the top of the vacuum pump (and it seems I have a vacuum leak), and it looks as though I will have to relieve it over battery no. 19, too. I also have to move the prop rod to the other side, because where it is now, it will short the 12V battery when retracted. But these are all minor things, and it is ready to drive. Thanks for any help you can give.
