I believe your assement of the dangers of flooded
ni-cads to be overblown.
They are nowhere near as bad as LA flooded or SLA
batts.
Agm's spray batt acid too if run too hot, too hi
charge, discharge like you do in racing and it's spray
is a lot worse the ni-cads.
I had a bad wreck on my e-bike at 25 mph, sorry
it's the only one I've had, and the batts hit hard but
no electrolyte came out at all, in fact didn't faze
them at all.
The SAFT caps are at least as good as a SLA
batt's vents and the Saft cases seem much stronger
too.
Even in my baddest overcharging accidents, and
I've had too many, a little electrolyte barely
bubbled out. No spray at 150F and 1C charging.
Would SLA's do better?
Would SLA's even work well after venting badly?

If a SLA/ gel batt is hit the acid will come out in
a bad wreck too. This as a problem that is easily
handled in both types and overblown.

You'll need these a lot more with SLA's than
SAFT's flooded!!! Both should have them in racing or
reg use.

That is a matter of opinion. I've had both on my
skin. I have very light skin and the LA is a lot worse
the ni-cad's. It's a lot less dangerous than drano in
reality.
Ni-cads electrolyte main thing is it's slippery
but just some water and it washes away.
I've, on purpose, left it on my skin for 20 minutes
to see what would happen and not much did. Much safer
than LA acid. I don't suggest trying this, alway wash
it off within 5 minutes, but it shows a lower level of
danger than LA.

Again what's the difference from LA/ SLA? If you
say SLA's don't vent while racing I have to wonder
about you.
SLA's have never vented on you?
