Since these are brushleszs DC motors you should be able to reverse
direction by swapping two of the three power leads.

This is only true for 3 phase AC induction motors and
sensorless BLDC motors.
The majority of BLDC controls use hall effect sensors
for rotor position sensing.
This is especially true for loads that vary widely like an EV.
You need to reverse the commutation sequence to reverse the motor
which must be done by the controller.
