I think it was a tepid admission that there were some issues with the original article, and rightly points out some speculative (but possibly true) acquisition by Tesla. I believe it was important that Tesla responded but keeping the story alive in not good for Tesla. I hope this hastens the end of the cycle for this topic in the news.
