One point, in your follow up you said: " For those pih drivers that like to drive mostly in EV-mode (using the on-board ice as little as possible), be sure to record when you added fuel to the tank. I can't comment on any newer plugins' (and don't want to drag this off topic) but a Volt will keep track of the age of the fuel and switch to ICE power mode if the premium fuel is a year old (or averages a year old). I went the full year using about 2 gallons, and at the end of the year had to drive some long distance trips to use up the "stale" fuel from the dealer. This year I will use a lot less, as I only put 2 gallons in. The "average age" means at the end of the year I could add 2 gallons and go another six months without burning any of it, and after six months add 4 gallons and go another 6 months...
