I know we went round and round about this when it first popped up on the list, and I still feel that a $100 flat tax for road going EV's is a reasonable solution. It is simple to implement and seriously $100 annual is not that much money. No red tape or hoops to jump through, just write your check every year and you are on your way. What other alternatives are there, base it on weight of vehicle, base it on value of vehicle, base it on miles driven. All of those are much more complicated and to me not worth the hassle, I mean how much less than $100 can it be with one of those alternatives? I do see your point about it being a motorcycle and perhaps the law is being applied incorrectly in your case, but in general if a tax must be assessed I like this idea best. I think between either the hassle of another system or the expense that this system is as good as we are going to get. Of course, neither of my EV's are currently registered with the state of Washington as EV's as they have not been on the road since this new law was passed and I always felt like heading down to the DMV and getting them changed for no good reason was like taking a trip to the oral surgeon just for the heck of it. Now that this law is in place and I am back on the road I will need to get my title changed so I to can pay my extra $100 a year... damon
