That would be so cool. Do you think 200kwh would fit in the same space as the existing pack?
Regardless, how about getting Tesla interested in supplying a pack? Could a 25kwh pack be done for $5K, turnkey, assuming development costs distributed over a large number of packs. Thinking briefly about this, it seems that one could keep the existing battery chassis and BMS, complete with all the interfacing and logic, and "simply" attach the BMS units to the new cell groups. Is this plausible? The BMS params would somehow have to be changed to accommodate different min and max voltages and, probably, max currents. But the charge algorithm should otherwise be the same, right? The LiMn cells are known from their ability to die. It was really bad choice to use them. Main reason to do it was to reduce the net cost of the pack. They knew this will happen. Hacking Leaf is just matter of efforts. Everything has a crack. :) How much one would be interested to pay for 200 mile pack for Leaf? -akkuJukka http://www.google.com/profiles/jarviju#about 2013/6/25 Bruce EVangel Parmenter <[email protected]> > I would also like to see an aftermarket product to correct why the > original Leaf pack had a premature death (I assume it was mainly because > of its less expensive 'air cooled' pack design).
