Steve,

More tan pouring something inside, which could be from WD-40 as a
basic solution to remove moisture and dirt to a hard solvent or chemical
that could take a deep clean (plus a manually and delicate brush); you need
to complete open or take the electronic board out and check out how much
damage did the water do. If the time and water chemicals that got inside was
brief and kind of clean respectively, you would not have to require more
than a basic WD-40.
But if that was acid rain water, plus several weeks or months of
moisture and accumulated rust, you can forget completely of that device
since most of the components such as electrolytic capacitors, relays,
microcontrollers, connectors and even copper traces may be rusted and
completely damaged.

Check what happens to mine after a year almost being outside:

Obviously the middle case between can be: Several components damaged
or degraded that may put into risk future performance of the 'once operating
controller', especially those can be: capacitors, big resistors, all solder
joints and connectors. In this case I can suggest you the option of take the
controller to a electronic repair shop to get that professionally done, and
try to see the worth of paying/doing that to get that controller back to
work Vs the price of getting a new one (then may be keep it for spare)

        Saludos..!

Asunto: [EVDL] Water inside controller

I have a logic system controller that was on a motorcycle and has been
sitting outside. wanted to put the controller on a golf cart and when I took
it out I noticed some water seeping out of it. I took the back off of it and
dumped all the water out but that's screws inside seemed a little rusty. I
haven't put any power to it and I'm wondering before I do if there's
something I can pour inside the controller to clean up some of this
dirt and or water mud. Steve clunn
