Good afternoon,

I am currently doing a project at university looking into the feasibility of
turning the current petrol formula student racecar into an EV. I have been
researching different types of motors and it is becoming apparent that I
need a BLDC or an AC induction motor.

The current petrol engine can produce 66Nm of torque at 11,000 RPM, my
question is; if i have an electric motor of equal or greater torque will I
still get the same performance as the petrol engine?

Also, do I need a gearbox for electric motor or can it run on a single gear?

Any help with this would be appreciated!

Michael
