Hello Lawrence,

The converters should be at a higher voltage than the battery. I set my Iota
at 14.5 volts at no load which is a higher voltage than the battery. At start
up the Iota runs everything and the battery is being charge.

My Iota being a 45 amp rating fuse for 30 amps. A load at 30 amps will drop
the voltage less than 14 amps running the contactors, fans and controls on a
No. 8 stranded wire. Which was a 25 foot circuit run from the Iota's. I ran a
No. 6 four wire cable and parallel two No. 6's per line from the Iota's This
held the voltage at 14 volts at the battery

I added more load to the Iota such as electric power steering and power brakes
hydraulic pumps which will sure to 60 amps when activated. I had to double the
no of Iota's for a total of four. All four Iota's outputs and inputs are
parallel. Double the output feeder cables of the four Iota's.

The voltage at the battery is maintain at or above 14 volts. I tested a
maximum load at 100 amps which will drop the voltage at 13.5 volts at the
battery.

Also it is best to use a deep cycle battery where it could discharge to about
50% unlike a marine or starter battery.

Roland

Subject: [EVDL] Relationship between the DD\DC CONVERTER&battery

I had a problem with my Iota not seeming ti keep up the charge on my 12 v
battery. Iver a month or two the battery will failto run the vac pump an the
contactors. You would think the dc would take the load but it is obvious that
ohms law doesn't favor the battery. What can you do to take the load off the
battery as the Iota will run everything once the contactors lock down. I
somerimes have to un hook the vac pump to start the car. Lawrence Rhodes
