Don't we measure miles with an odometer for this sort of comparison? Are maps based on actual or projected mileage? I don't know, but for hills of normal incline, 2% to 10%, the added mileage is* very* small. You can trig that out if you have doubts. You probably get more difference always taking the inside line around curves. But again, odometers always measure exact, if the wheel circumference is right for the gauge.
