I'm not saying this is practical, especially not in a portable configuration, but what you are saying makes no sense. The sun on it's own delivers a certain peak amount of energy per sq ft to the earth's surface. By using a collector as a type of solar funnel you can certainly concentrate the energy that was going to be disbursed over a larger area onto a smaller one. In that smaller area you can then collect it. For instance the ants in my driveway are perfectly safe walking around in the sun until I fix a magnifying glass over their head and focus the energy from a larger area directly onto them...damon
