OCM is a community project and therefore depends on the Œcommunity¹ to
provide the resourcesŠ it¹s doing reasonably well with 24,367 Charging
Stations documented across the globe.

The reason you as a volunteer must enter the Ecotricity data is because
they have chosen to restrict access to their charging locations by not
publicly sharing dataŠ personally I think this is very silly but not at
all uncommonŠ the good news is that the majority of Ecotricity sites are
already in the OCM database so you won¹t have many to do.

Going forward we have some cool integration with the Open Vehicles project
which is about to start automatically updating the OCM database whenever
suitably equipped cars are charged in publicŠ that will cut through the
restrictive practices of the charging vendors and give us a high quality
charging database that we can all use.
