Then I was misinformed.  I never encountered those brands for automotive
use and admit I was not involved in mechanic-ing for marine or other
products.  I read that in a trade rag.  I can't comment on what "big" meant
in 1986.  And in retrospect, it is not as if battery making is some secret
art, so I am not really surprised just mollified.  Still Exide made the
Diehards and interstates which were marketed as if they were standing alone
and above others; so it was interesting for me to learn they were not
special in their manufacture, just their specifications.
