Yep.  The behavior Cor describes is exactly how the ChargePoint EVSE at work
behaves.  Each station has two J1772 outlets, but it is wired with a 40A
220V circuit.  ChargePoint calls this charge sharing.

The ChargePoint EVSE can be configured to send you an email or a text when
the charging power changes.  You can also get notification when charging is
finished or the charging connection is pulled out.  You can also see your
instantaneous draw and total charge for the session on their web site.
