-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I had twenty Costco 6-V golf cart batteries in my S-10 conversion for around 2.5 years. They gave good service for the first 2 years, then one died. I replaced it trying to eak out another year, but about half a year later another two were going downhill and my total capacity was about 1/2 of when I had first started and getting unusable for my commute. They were manufactured by Johnson Controls, not sure if the ones you will be getting are the same or not.
I replaced them with with batteries from my local interstate dealer ($100 each with a core trade-in, or $130 without). The interstate batteries weighted about 9lbs more than the Costco batteries (more lead). They are performing as well as the Costco batteries did when I first got them. I have no idea if the interstate batteries will turn out to last longer or be better, but the extra 9lb of weight makes me think that I perhaps got SOMETHING for my extra money.... [The Costco batteries were my first pack. I wouldn't say that I abused it, but I am handling charging differently with my 2nd pack and we'll see if that helps or not. For about the first year I was charging off of a 110 volt convience charger (only) and then when I got my 240 volt outlet installed I used a 240 volt Zivan (which probably overcharges them!) daily. Now I'm using the 240 volt zivan, but only every other day when the pack reaches around 50% SOC.] Jay On 04/21/2014 09:53 AM, Roger Daisley wrote: > > > '86 VW Cabriolet: My 96v flooded pack is tired and ready to be replaced.
