I do not have personal experience with those cheaper batteries, as it has always been my experience that you get what you pay for. If I had a 96V EV that I was going to sell, having a working pack will increase the resale price, I might consider going with a less expensive battery.
But many have asked the same question, and some have bought those cheaper batteries. You might want to search the archives: http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/template/NamlServlet.jtp?macro=search_page&node=413529&query=Costco&days=0&i=12&sort=date In the past, these Costco batteries have been made be various manufacturers, and it is possible you made be buying a lighter (less lead), lower quality (possibly blems), or old-stale batteries (when you buy 96V worth, 16 batteries will they all be the same date code?). Lets assume the Costco battery had less capacity than the smallest capacity known-brand 6V golf cart battery, like like at Sams Club http://www.samsclub.com/sams/energizer-6-volt-premium-golf-cart-battery-group-size-gc2/prod6000037.ip What is said on the outside isn't always what you get. So, if it said a 110 min battery, it might actually be a 90 minute battery. IMO, in any case, until you fully charge, break-in, and check the voltages on each battery for health, I would go easy on that pack, and not make too many demands on it. {brucedp.150m.com} - On Mon, Apr 21, 2014, at 06:53 AM, Roger Daisley wrote: > '86 VW Cabriolet: My 96v flooded pack is tired and ready to be replaced. > I > see the Costco 6-V Golf Cart batteries at $78, each.
