Hi Bruce and all, I'm glad to hear you up and around again after your hospital
stay.

Mention was made about your facing thyroid surgery and I thought I would let
you know of my experience with thyroid which went very well.

I have a lump on my thyroid and about 20 years ago, I was given the choice of
surgery, doing nothing (I don't recommend that) or taking an Armour thyroid
pill for the rest of my life which I decided to do as I didn't want to go
through surgery. I just recently went in for  what I jokingly call my Annual
Choking session as my doctor has to really squeeze to check on it as every year
it has shrunk. This time it hadn't really shrunk, but it hasn't  grown either
and I don't have any problems from using the thyroid pill.

At first he recommended Synthroid and I was on it for a year or so, but I heard
that using the Synthroid had some side effects and decided to go with Armour
Thyroid instead and have no regrets over the decision.

I know this isn't directly related to EV's and I don't want to abuse the list,
yet if helps you or anyone else on the list with a similar issue, I will take
my chances on it.

On a direct note, I have lurked and dreamed of my own EV for a long time and it
is actually taking shape. It will be an S-10 based EV with some custom work on
it as I decided to take and extended cab and put a long bed behind it which GM
never did. I am in the paint stage as I took it down to bare metal for most of
it and  am now almost ready to start to put the cab and all body parts back on
the chassis. Every summer, I have kept hoping that this summer it might
actually be driven. This summer is no exception, but I might actually get it
assembled, driven and take it down to the DMV for inspection as it has had some
changes made the involve chassis numbers from about 3 different S-10's. I have
thought of names for it and the only thing that comes to mind is Ol Blue. It
will be blue in color and very much an amateur paint job as I had to make a
choice last summer of a professional paint job, or a lithium battery pack and
the pack won out. It will be on
the small side as far as a lithium battery pack goes, but I am hoping it will
give at least as much range as a lead acid pack would have and about a quarter
of the weight of the lead acid pack.

Well, that is all for now and will give updates later as I get closer. Best
wishes to Bruce as you get back in the swing of things.

Hi Bruce,

I am glad to hear you are out and about again, doing your EV things.  If by
chance you do have to have the thyroid surgery and end up with a scar on
your throat I will buy you a couple of turtle neck shirts.  There is makeup
that will cover a lot of things and you might look good wearing an ascot.
Unless you are planning to audition for a position as a Chippendale dancer
you should not be concerned about this issue.

Gail
