To continue the efficiency debate for y our solar carport, there are some very low prices at
http://sunelec.com 28 cents/watt amorphous panels 1.1 x 1.3m 5.8w/sqft 44 cents/watt big 4' x 7.7' panels 12.8W/sqft 64 cents/watt normal 3.3' x 5.4' giving 13.6W/sqft So again, it you have PLENTY of surface area, then the amorphous panels are some very cheap stuff. But take more that 2.5 times the structure. They also have a 6 kW grid-tie/off-grid inverter for a 48v battery sysem, but best I can tell, no provision for high voltage DC solar input?
