I agree with what you're saying, but the summary graphics are fine for 
illustrating simply what I said. 
Specifics about certain elements are best found elsewhere.

I have seen similar graphics, but out of their original context they are 
not great at explaining much without one inferring slot. Why do batteries 
not go past 1MW? You build more you have hydromore. If I ignore the 
horizontal scale and take it as some sort of practical, economic, relative 
comparison it mostly makes sense. 
 
Hydro/pump storage, compressed air or compressed H2 look good for really 
large scale storage, except hydro destroys habitat. Start looking towards 
TW of power and batteries consume so much copper and such it is crazy. Big 
ass tanks (underground caverns are one possibility) start to make sense. 
Personally, I think a wider smarter grid makes renewables work better. A 
global grid would be best of all, but we have a long way to go getting 
along with each other before that happens. I bet we get fusion first, 
either controlled or not.
