Hi Lawrence, Can you explain the two ball system? Are you talking about keeping the power indicator of the Leaf limited to only a certain amount of power? I typically see 3 dots when driving steady speed on the Freeway, I do not know how you would reduce that to 2 dots without slowing down to about 40-45 MPH which is the only speed that I can maintain 6 miles per kWh, my average over 1300 miles mixed local and freeway driving is at 4.4 miles per kWh and I verified that my tire pressure is between 43-45 PSI on all 4 tires for maximum efficiency. I did not mount the current tires, so I do not know if they are the OE low rolling resistance tires or that they are regular ones. They do wear evenly so I know the alignment cannot be too much off, I checked and as far as I can eyeball it (car on level street, wheels straight and looking along the side wall of the two front tires to see if they align straight to the side of the rear tires) the toe is very close to neutral and the car coasts pretty well. If I try to maintain a constant 65 MPH then consumption is at or below 4 miles per kWh and I would not feel comfortable going any slower than 55 on I5, I did that when I picked up this Leaf as I was using an old light truck with tow dolly so 55 was both the legal and the safe speed. Doing constant 55 will indeed improve the mileage, but I can't get it to stay near 6 mi/kWh or my speed keeps dropping slowly, it usually hovers between 4-5 mi/kWh. Did you make any mods to your Leaf to achieve the higher efficiency, do you have thinner tires or other tricks? My tires are the 205/55R16 Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 which are rated for 44 PSI cold pressure, so I am at maximum pressure for these tires. What are your tricks?
