The cheapest 36V forklift battery I've found is a refurb, 1yr warranty, 510AH

That is FAR more battery than I really need.

Ouch. I've seen complete working pallet-jacks with battery go for $500 at factory closing auctions.

As for the 12V unit, a pair of Golf Cart batteries seems to be in the $200-$300
range.

Ouch again. What does Sam's Club want for golf cart batteries? My local Sam's Club (Sartell MN) wants about $80 each. Or, my local golf course sells their 3-year-old used golf cart batteries for $40 each. (They blindly replace them every 3 years, needed or not.)

Another thought... didn't you have a set of aircraft nicads?

Yup, those would work great - but all mine got destroyed in my shop fire 10
years ago.
Haven't seen any for sale in a few years.

I have about 24v worth. I'll write you separately.

Obsolete (Ob-so-LETE). Adjective. 1. Something that is simple,
reliable, straightforward, readily available, easy to use, and
affordable. 2. Not what the salesman wants you to buy.
