BTW, price on Ebay is typically below $10 so I think every Leaf owner
should have one ;-)

Peri,
Since the Leaf has 2 CAN buses on its OBD connector and you need to
access both for LeafSpy to work, try to find an older revision adapter.
If it mentions that it is an ELM327 revision 1.5 (not the cost-reduced
rev 2)
then you are pretty sure it will work.
I have both Bleutooth and WiFi ELM327 adapters.
The drawback of the WiFi version is that it consumes more power and is
powered 24/7 so after not using the Leaf a few days, the aux battery is
dead. Just some experience from using various combinations.
Success!

Yes, it would be useful to have a way to meter gids. Maybe I really have

better than 40 mile range possible. However, I'm suspicious there is
something else wrong, besides battery capacity. Like regen not working
properly, although I realize that probably won't add much more than 5%
back to the battery. Maybe 10% on aggressive conditions.

Note, this is in winter. Although mild compared to some regions, the
battery was exposed to roughly 40F air. And the heat was on, but only
set at 60. I think the defrost was off most of the time, but can't
remember any more. I remember looking at the energy info panel. It was
about .25kw for the car's electronics and about .75 to 1 kw for the
climate system. So, probably not too much effect on the overall range.
(The guess meter showed a difference of 3 miles, I think.)

So is battery temperature probably the biggest culprit?

I'll look for an OBDII bluetooth adapter.

Peri
