I agree with Willie on this. Here in Las Vegas the ambient temperature
can be 110 or higher so even if the car windows were left wide open it
would be extremely hot inside. And yes, likely that your windows would
be broken and child or dog found in custody. Also, kidnapping and
dognapping are possibilities, unfortunately.
