Looks like the military uses a good grade of paint and good painting technique. I disassembled 67 boxes of batteries and not one box had corrosive damage. However, all the paint was intake. Thanks, for the info on aluminum. I was planning on using some larger NiCad with a solar system. I will use steel for the frames.

Potassium hydroxide doesn't seem to bother steel, however.
