I'm not an expert on these things, but last I saw, your basic Chinese LiFePO4 cells were running around $1.30 per amp hour per cell, FOB west coast. At that price, a 50ah 12v battery would be $260, before you even add the BMS. Watch out for those drop-in 12v replacement batteries. Usually you can't safely connect multiples in series for higher voltages. Also, some don't have real balancing BMSes, just protective circuits to prevent overcharge and overdischarge. I'd be very leery about any no-name lithium battery on Ebay, or Amazon either for that matter. There's a lot of cheap garbage on offer. In my experience, you don't always get what you pay for, but you seldom get what you don't pay for! I've had good performance and longevity from Li Ping's LiFePO4 batteries, but they're not cheap, nor are they very high power (1C continuous). He doesn't build 12v batteries to stock, but will custom-make them. To give you an idea of the possible cost, the closest stock battery would be a 24v 20ah at $378, plus shipping from China. The battery price includes a low-power charger (either 2a or 4a, I forget which). For me, Ping's chargers haven't been as reliable as his batteries; 2 out of 3 have failed.
