Hi - - I just got off the phone with signs.com, and referenced Bob's page, and they are going to send me an approximation of the sign. Once approved, I will order two of them for my local use. I'll try to remember to ask them if there is a way to keep the sign design on file and if there is a way to provide a link so others can buy it.
The one modification I requested was to remove the EVADC.org, as it is a non-sequiteur around here. We also discussed that, looking closely at Bob's page, they did not stand on procedure, but had different modifications made themselves, depending on the exact need. - I appreciate Rod's enthusiasm for that one sign, but a) I have already purchased a similar sign a few months ago for a station I help with, and, more importantly b) the entire point here is that Bob and his teammates have really managed to strike the right chord I think, for some of the purposes that I want. I want to be able to donate a sign that brings into play the making-available of a common plug, and does not have some sort of overaly aggressive (for some purposes) vibe. - It may be kind of a side-issue, but here in Arizona I have been wondering if, eventually, there will be a legal case based on a law we have now in place as to fines for parking in an EV charging spot. I don't know if exact wording on signs needs to be thought through. - It is all very well and good to harbor resentment against IC vehicles which take up a spot that is clearly marked for EVs only, and I too have resented this at times, but there is also a matter of understanding more middle-ground situations, where (for example) a potential host may not know much about electric vehicles, and may not have any parking spots that can be spared 24x7 waiting for a vehicle that may only come around for a few hours once every month or two, but where they do want to let it be known on plugshare that if a vehicle wants to charge there they are welcome to do so. In such an instance, a more gently-worded sign, with a picture on plugshare, may be a good way to follow up on making the spot available. Note that where I am, until the latest round of Tesla deployments, I would estimate (wild guess) less than a dozen EVs in the county, no new EVs for sale at the two main local dealers, and one single public unrestricted J1772 to serve any EVs that may pass through. Some of this lack of reaching critical mass in EVs or public stations tends to make the conversation a bit different in some ways.
