Twice weekly I'm out and about getting my walking
exercise while getting tasks, shopping done (I'm heading
toward 70's, and I've met quite a few 80+yrold Texans that
look and act younger than I). If a local South-Central
Texan's body-language seems spirited,keen, I'll have a go
@yakking with them (I get to meet more good-folk that way),
and when appropriate, I drop-in (EVangelize)
http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/template/NamlServlet.jtp?macro=search_page&node=413529&query=%22EVangel-about%22&days=0
a couple words about my non-profit/unpaid efforts to
promote plugins, to keep Texas clean (blue skies, white
clouds, reduce-smog, etc.) for future generations.

This area is growing very quickly (perhaps raising the
price too-high of the home I hope to buy - SE Austin's
Silicon-Hills is a Silicon-Valley-CA wannabe in too
many-ways). I find it interesting the approach transplants
to Texas, like myself (originally a Silicon Valley-ite)
have to now living in Texas.

I make a strong effort to learn how to be a good-Texan.
I find it odd when I come across a transplant that still
tries to hold-on-to,claim they are of the area, city they
came from (to me that doesn't make sense. I want to get
along with my neighbors).

One transplant I ended up spending a lot of time yakking
with at the local grocer was also new to Texas, and had
the same kindred spirit to learn and adopt Texas ways.

Though originally from New Jersey, with family and friends
up North in NY, he said what I had already thought, that
now that he is living in TX he wants to get along as he
too likes the fine-folk here.

The conversation went on for much longer than I usually get,
and it was a great pleasure talking with him. But my energy
level was fading, my arthritic standing pain was overcoming
the joy of our chat, I had to end it before I wanted to.

Our conversation ended with me mentioning my free public
EV awareness efforts. I left him with a smile as I told him
about a NJ EVangel, Tom Moloughney, who not only owns a
restaurant in NJ, but has been a promoter of plugins on
the East coast.

I found it fun that the top (younger) image of Tom on the
green car reports link (above), looked like the NJ
transplant was Tom's younger brother (same NJ body-
language, tilt of the torso, and expression).

All throughout the week, I was coming across more and
more plugins on the road in my area:
- there was a white long-range Tesla-3 EV heading into
the same store I was, but like their EV, they were
high-energy and quick, thus they were long gone before
could even try to catch up with them for a quick chat
about their EV.

- there was the red Leaf EV bopping its way to one of
the many hospitals in the medical center part of
San Antonio (sa) where I live. He zipped into one of
their secure (rfid card access) parking lots, so I lost
that one.

- and I always like to swing by the sa superEVSE
https://www.plugshare.com/location/204964
to do some Tesla EV watching (all coming and going like
bees sipping flowers' nectar).

That got me thinking what my future truck needs would
be. As I've mentioned, likely I'll need a truck to haul
around a e-mobility scooter,cart
https://www.google.com/search?q=mobility+scooter
in its bed (my painful arthritic joints will be giving
out soon, and I'll have EV shows I'll still want to do).

So, what type of pick-up truck should I get?
Actually, all I really need is a ute like what Giertz
&friends made, converting a Tesla-3 into a pickup
https://www.google.com/search?q=truckla

I kinda did that shtick way back in the 1990's when I
had a conversion company, electrify a S-10 Blazer
http://brucedp.tripod.com/blazer/index3.html
http://brucedp.0catch.com/blazer/

But back then I had a local EV converter to pay for
$upport. Today, if I had a truckla made for me IMO,
there wouldn't be any support, and I'm way too old
to do it myself.

Perhaps Willie can state his Tesla support experience
here in Texas, but my research shows there really
isn't much Tesla support near where I live (sa)
https://www.google.com/search?q=tesla+repair+texas
and their service center would likely not want to
touch a conversion (even if it was based off a
Tesla-3).

I'm glad there are a couple of Tesla service centers
in Texas, considering Texas lawmakers have not made
it easy for Tesla to get established here.

That got me thinking (long before the Tesla pickup
truck debut, see above link), why not wait for the
new Tesla Cyberpunk pu truck to come out?

Without more information, my mind had me worrying
about the radical Cyberpunk design would standout
making me a regular candidate for rolling-coal
attacks
https://www.google.com/search?q=rolling+coal

I've researched, looking at the up-n-coming
Ford & GM, as well as the startup pu-etrucks.
The startup pu-etrucks would have even less support
near me than Tesla. Though FMC &GM pu-etrucks seem
way too far in the future, at least there should be
support for them near me as there are many FMC &GM
dealerships in sa.

Sadly, FMC &GM are taking there huge puffy pu trucks
to factory convert to EVs, when there is a market
for the extinct light trucks of the 1980's. The
light pu truck ice I found was a FMC ranger (yup, they
are making those again), HMC, & TMC have one too.
I'd really not want to go ice, but rather an pu e-truck.

After finally viewing the Tesla pu e-truck debut
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sj-yB9C7v6s
I got over the radical body shape to see more of what
Tesla designers were tryig to do: a simpler design to
make a more aerodynamic e-truck. The fact that
there is a builtin outlet in the bed to plug the mobility
e-cart into is a plus.

After some thought, other truck makers vehicles look so
old in design, like they haven't changed since the
1960's
https://www.google.com/search?q=1960s+dodge+truck

Am I going to pu a deposit down on a Tesla pu e-truck?
No, I have to continue seeking a va loan so I can buy
the sa home near the va hospital, then I can start getting
serious about upgrading to an e-truck.
 :-zzz
