No, and given the current government's direction, I don't see any on the horizon. I'm surprised they haven't yet dissolved NHTSA. We need pedestrian safety regulations pretty badly, too. The US's gluttony for large, high vehicles is tough on pedestrians. They tend to slide under the massive front ends and get crushed by the monster-truck wheels. > There's no way that design would pass European regulations. I agree. Maybe Musk looked at the much lower pickup truck sales rate in Europe and decided that he didn't care. But hey, with Brexit and the derisive attitudes of its proponents toward safety (see: Grenfell Tower), maybe he can sell a few thousand in the UK. What the design says about Musk's level of concern for pedestrian safety will be left as an exercise for the reader. For the record, since EVDLers are sometimes shocked that I don't worship Elon Musk's graven image :-\ I think that Teslas are well designed and I admire Musk's perseverance in pushing EVs, but I don't have a very high opinion of his behavior. IMO he needs to either shape up or step down soon, or he's apt to go down in flames, maybe taking Tesla with him.
