I am finally ready to let go of my beloved 2002 silver Toyota Rav4EV. It is
located in Mountain View, CA, and I am the original owner.

It has 139,000 miles on the original battery pack, and comes with the
charger, which is also original. It has the capacitor fix and magnets on
the air vents. It has been living in the garage its whole life until last
month.

It still runs, for some definition of the word "run". The driver must be
very careful about accelerating and keep an eye on the voltmeter to make
sure it doesn´t drop too low and light up the turtle warning light. I´m
told accelerating too fast can cause the car to turn off but I have not
experienced that.

It can accelerate slowly up to 60 miles/hour, but may not be able to sustain
that speed when going up a hill. It does seem to be holding steady at its
original range of about 20 miles per quarter charge, but for the last year I
have rarely driven it far enough to drop below half a charge.

I gave up timed charging over a year ago, because I would often wake up to a
red error light on the charger. Since then charging has become more
problematic and for the last 2 months it has rarely charged for more than 20
minutes before either showing the red light or showing full (when not full).
For the last month I have only been driving it a few miles at a time and
keeping it as charged as it will allow, between 3/4 and 7/8 full.

It has never been in a major crash. It has 18 years worth of scratches,
scrapes and little dents, including 3 very small, perfectly circular dents
caused by being shot with a BB gun (no, I don´t know why someone would shoot
my car). The interior also has 18 years of wear, with the driver seat
showing the most wear.

The tires are old, the wipers need to be replaced, and the front brakes are
squealing, which means the front brake pads need to be replaced. There is a
very small crack in the windshield. The heated windshield stopped working
long ago. I think everything else is working.

If you´re interested, I would like an offer that would cover my cost of
having the charger de-installed, and you would have to pick it up. Please
email or call if you have any questions. Sally Ahnger

Note: A RAV4 gen1 EV must be charged with a SPI inductive EVSE
charger. If her EVSE charger isworking, you should see about
also getting it with the EV as a set. Without adaptors, this EV
is not j1772 charging compatible (this an old-school EV).

... I am currently (fingers crossed) still driving my 2002 Rav4EV that now
has 135,000 miles on the original battery pack. I love it and it breaks my
heart that the battery pack is on its last legs ...

... In 2001 it was possible for businesses, cities or utilities to lease
one or two of these cars. Toyota then actually sold or leased 328 RAV4 EVs
to the general public in 2003, at which time the program was terminated
despite waiting lists of prospective customers ...
The RAV4 EV production has a governed top speed of 137 km/h (85 mph), a
tested 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time of around 18 seconds (depending on
state-of-charge on the batteries).[citation needed] Its EPA rated driving
range is 95 miles (153 km) ...

Note: This old EV is going to need a lot of work, has only a short 90mi
range
after an expensive NiMH pack replacement. It only has non-j1772 inductive
level2-5kW charging (~8hrs).

IMO, scap-it (it is to old to bother with). Instead, do what
she did, buy a cheap Niro EV, that will have support, and
likely co$t you less in the long run.
