I caught that rail travel would be more efficient and I appreciate that. It is 
an interesting concept if the bugs can be worked out.   My understanding of the 
discussion with rails seemed to imply that the Autonomy might somehow required 
some geofencing and I wanted to point out that keeping Autonomous vehicles to a 
certain lane will not be needed very soon.

The point is to take semi trucks off the highways and run them more 
efficiently on rails. Whether it is needed has nothing to do with self 
driving except that some level of autonomy would be needed to allow 
vehicles to draft. Whether it is needed (from a business point of view) 
depends on whether it would provide a less expensive solution for moving 
freight. There are some significant logistical problems.
