OK, thanks.  Now I see why the confusion.  

That should be KWH, not KW.  

KWH is battery size (energy).  KW is power.  Big difference.

I looked up a "plus" and found that it has a 62KWH battery, a nice size, 
which gives it a range of 226 miles for the lighter more sensible model.

Interesting though that the Leaf's cousin the Renault Zoe has a real world 
actual driving range of 350km / 215 miles with a smaller 52KWH battery.  
(Factory claim is 400km / 248 miles but almost nobody gets that.) 

That may be because the Zoe is smaller and weighs less.  It may also have 
better aerodynamics.
