I really liked this presentation by Matt Hamilton
I call it the "Plone Triple Play"
This is an argument from the perspective of Proprietary vs Open Source.
I summarize it as follows:
- Low upfront cost – download the software, setup and just go, see if it
works as advertised (can be extended by consultants or specialist company)
- Low risk of take-over – vendors buying vendors, where do you stand if
your platform is retired, can the user experience be transferred
- Empowers the IT department – over a period of time your IT department
can develop the skills to manage the system on their own
