Hi Mara –

Some things are better felt than tell’t. Instead of telling people that OST
works, how about inviting them into a lightweight experience that addresses a
current issue?

For example:
A few years ago when delivering 2-day Agile training sessions inside a
financial institution I was looking for a way to provide an open space (little
‘o’ and little ‘s’) experience for the participants so I told their leadership
that the final 90 minutes would be a forum for the participants to explore
topics from the class that they find most interesting with others who shared
those interests. Leadership was invited to observe what happened, especially in
the 15-20 minute closing circle. Seeing was believing. They were amazed. At the
end of the closing I mentioned that everyone present had just experienced an
approach called Open Space Technology that can be (and has been) used to
address all kinds of organizational challenges.

OST sells itself.

Mark

Hi Mara,

I’ve facilitated and co-facilitated OSs at a few financial institutions and
have hearsay stories about others in US and abroad. My work was covered by
NDAs, so I can’t/wouldn’t disclose names.

Your clients can rest easy, as others have mentioned. Their instance would be
far from the first instance.

Onward,
Diana
