Some can grow one for real Something I did learn from one of those sensationalist but still good documentaries, is how the mummy octopus starves herself to death in the process of infant rearing. So octopus never ever know their parents, or exist with any sort of overlap. The speculation the docu was building this up to, was whether they are sentient beings with culture pregnant to happen, but sadly never does happen because each individual has to discover everything all over again Another suggestion was that this is probably part of the explanation why the octopus has not taken its place at the top predator table, despite being more than qualified
