Then why can't you remember the split second before you fall asleep?  If

I can't argue with that, X is Y or X is not Y. That's the trouble I have
with "free will"; unlike "consciousness" the words "deterministic" and
"random" have a clear inelastic meaning so everything, including your
actions, happen for a reason or they don't and if they don't then they're
random.
