Hi! I'm currently working on a C implementation of the Jabber client protocol. This might be nice to use for the IM-stuff in Evolution. It's currently not usable but I hack on it whenever I have time to it might be sometime soon. Let me know if you want to know more about it. By using Jabber you also get AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo IM for free so this is probably the best way of implementing an IM-plugin for Evolution.
