I am running a 2.4.0 kernel and have installed gnome1.4 beta. Immediately
following the installation of 1.4 I also noticed that evolution took an
age to start up, as did a composer window. After following this thread for
a few days I did an oaf-slay. Bingo, the speed problem was fixed.
