I've never been able to get OST to work reliably.

Believe me, I'd give anything to get OST working well - because my users
get so angry when they can't get an Internet connection. It will
download SOME files, but not all - and I truly have looked (and applied)
the proper settings when it comes to downloading which folders they
want, etc.

Going back to your previous question, YES everyone runs their preview
window all the time. It's such a wonderful convenience (for obvious
reasons) - but it would be nice to have the ability to randomly click
around their message list, and look at the message bodies w/o having to
worry about the attachment problem. It would be nice to be to
Right-Click on it, and select "download attachment" or something like
that.

Are there any facilities in Outlook 2003 for something like this?

Thanks for the rapid response - that is most appreciated.

Mike

There is also a "Remote Mail" feature of Outlook that allows to download
the headers of messages and then mark the ones that you want to
download.

Subject: Clicking on messages with large attachments...

Hello All,

I am sure you have all run into this problem, but is there a resolution?

We are running Exchange 2000 w/Outlook 2000 clients AND Microsoft's ISA
& VPN Solution.

When the user is remoted in using a VPN, simply clicking on a message
with a 1 Meg attachment will cause the system to hang for as long as it
takes to bring it over the wire. This is ridiculous - even if it was an
accident, or it happens to be the 1st message in their unread messages
list (which newest ones are always on top) - they are literally stuck
sitting there, while this huge attachment (which they may not even want
to open) comes over the wire.

Is there some setting inside of Outlook, where you can click on a
message, but NOT have any attachments automatically brought over??? This
would be a God-Send if I could get that to work. If all my users get
their way (due to their frustrations with this issue), we will be back
using Outlook Express, using POP3 - which is an terrible solution (from
an IT guys standpoint).

Any ideas, that could help me deal with this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Mike
