Personally I wouldn't worry about it, I use a postfix relay at our perimiter
and it's our only MX record.

I take the approach that most MTAs retry over several days so it's got to be
pretty damned bad before you should lose mail - bear in mind also that it
would be bounced as undeliverable, it wouldn't just dissapear into a black
hole.

The problem I always found with using secondary MXs is that spammers love
them, and usually you have little control over what mail they accept other
than @yourdomain.com.
